Big Lug Dump Trailers
Big Lug dump trailers are utilized in various businesses and are available in different models and types. While these models vary, all the units are made from utilizing grade 50 steel. This is much stronger than the standard A36 employed in other trailers.
Standard Features
These trailers are equipped with polyurethane paint finish, epoxy primer and sandblasted metal. These surface finishes ensure the trailer will last longer even when it is used extensively. Other elements that are included in these trailers are low profile deck height, rub rails and stake pockets. These units also have D rings and adjustable suppliers.
Most units also have spring loaded ramps, load stabilizers, tailgates and equalizers. The equalizers and hinges are greaseable. Just like other trailers, a hydraulic cylinder is also present in these units. The trailer also has fenders, 3/4 ” door hinges and LED lights. These trailers also have self maintaining breakaway systems and modular wiring.
Lower Frame
The lower portion of the frame in Big Lug dump trailers are made by combining the whole lower frame in C channel members. This is in contrast to the tubular framing used in other systems. One of the problems with tubing is that it can crack. They are also susceptible.
In addition, top quality steel is employed. The steel used is more durable than ordinary steel. This allows it to carry bigger payloads. At the same time it prolongs the life of the frame.
The Brake-away System
The trailer is also fitted with a brake-away system that can maintain itself. When the battery goes down, the system will recharge on its own. The result is a more efficient emergency brake.
Wiring and Other Features
The harnesses on these units are totally sealed. Every connection is molded so there are no corrosion problems. The jacks are bolted. This is much better than having it welded in. Because they are bolted, it is easy to remove in case of damage.
A welded jack will have to be cut, which is more difficult. In the event the jack has to be replaced, you just remove the bolt and put in the new one. The greased hinge points keep the point from seizing.
Finally, the Big Lug dump trailers employ a strong sub frame. There is also a structural perimeter made utilizing a rectangular tube measuring 4″ x 2″. The frame is supported by extra strength steel sheets. It is these sheets that constitute the sides and floor.
