Dump Trailers

Required Materials and Tools

Hacksaw
2 x 2 square tubing
Drill
Hitch kit
Bolts
Lumber

Step 1

Take the saw and make three 4 ft pieces from the metal tubing. Slice a couple of 5 ft pieces from the tubing too. The first will be the cross members and the other pieces you cut will be the trailer sides.

Step 2

Drill some holes in the end metal. Now hook the ends of the 4 ft piece to the 5 ft piece. Using the lag bolts, you will end up with a rectangle shape. Put the final cross piece in place to finish the frame.

Step 3

Connect the light trailer axle into the center cross member of the frame. You can make this by using the U-bolts. Get the hacksaw again and slice five feet from the pipe tubing. This is going to be the tongue of your custom dump trailer. Take a couple of lag bolts and connect the tongue to the front of the trailer frame.

Step 4

Get the hitch kit and hook the hitch to the tongue. The instructions will vary per kit. Follow the instructions on the package.

Step 5

Saw the treated lumber so it is 5 feet long. Bolt these over the trailer frame. This will constitute the bed. Place the boards close together or you can have small spaces between them.

Tip

You can use metal for the flooring rather than wood.
